The Center is fortunate to have the talents and insights of so many people who were recognized as leaders by their peers in 2012:

Nicole Brown:

• Served as the President of the Virginia Dietetic Association
• Member of Executive Board of the Virginia Dietetic Association

Dr. Robyn Osborn

• Serves on the Advisory Council for the “Healthy Weight in Lesbian and Bisexual Women” project with the Mautner Foundation

Dr. Maria Thestrup

• Served as Secretary of the Board for the DC Psychological Association

Dr. Arthur Frank

• Promoted to Associate Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine.
• Served on The Obesity Society Advocacy Committee

Tricia Psota

•  Received a 1^st place award for Excellence in Research from the Maryland Dietetic Association
• Received a Certificate in Adult Weight Management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Served as Treasurer, Program Chair, and Research and Education Chair for the DC Metro Area Dietetic Association
• Served on the Development Committee for the American Society for Nutrition
• Served as a mentor for the Penn State Alumni Mentoring Program

Dr. Scott Kahan

• Named Director of the national STOP Obesity Alliance
• Served on The Obesity Society Advocacy Committee and The Obesity Society Clinical Committee
• Became board certified as an Obesity Medicine specialist, becoming a charter member of this new medical field
• Nominated for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Young Leader Award and although he didn’t win, the vote of confidence manifested by his nomination and simply being included in such amazing company was a real honor.
