In the Weight Management for Foodies workshop, our mindful eating activity was a huge hit!
Participants learned that by eating in a more mindful manner, by slowing down and savoring really good food, they didn’t feel as hungry! They also were able to consider ways to apply this strategy in their day-to-day lives.
Our food truck “food lab” gave them an example of how one small change in ordering can save hundreds of calories without sacrificing flavor or enjoyment of the experience. We discussed additional strategies for managing some of DC’s most difficult weight management challenges, such as happy hours and the “bottomless” brunch.
Finally, we reviewed menus from several of DC’s top fine-dining restaurants (think Fiola and Nora) and developed practical skills for implementing small changes to support weight and wellness goals.
